The Office of Community and Regional Affairs (OCRA) is seeking a Temporary Associate Director for Community Relations from June, 2024 to December, 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating recurring and annual projects and supporting the Office of Community and Regional Affairs’ daily office operations.

 

OCRA serves as the primary liaison between the University and its surrounding community on a wide variety of local and regional issues. The office advances Princeton’s mission by building strategic relationships with external partners and promoting ongoing engagement between the University and the communities in which it resides.

 

The Temporary Associate Director for Community Relations will work independently on projects using guidelines prepared by OCRA staff. Projects include coordinating employee outreach initiatives, fostering positive interactions between the University and the community, data-gathering and preparation of annual reports. The Temporary Associate Director for Community Relations will also assist with Princeton University’s Community Auditing Program (CAP).



 

  • Community Relations
    • Organize annual outreach initiatives and events including but not limited to: summer internship program, backpack donation drive, campus farmers’ market, faculty/staff Red Cross blood drives, Reading with the Tigers, the university’s holiday initiatives, etc.
    • Gather content for recurring and annual reports
    • Coordinate meter-bag requests, banner requests with municipal officials
    • On-campus primary and general election polling site coordination
    • Resource Recovery program coordination
    • Attend community events as needed
  • Communications
    • Develop content and draft weekly newsletter using Constant Contact
    • Maintain the OCRA website
    • Manage the OCRA social media accounts
    • Use Adobe Creative Cloud to craft communications materials for events and special intiatives
  • Office Operations
    • Respond to phone and email inquiries on a variety of University-related topics
    • Provide scheduling support for Assistant Vice President for Community and Regional Affairs
    • Use University systems to manage office financial reporting including creating requisitions, assisting with expense reports, and drafting reports
    • Provide support to Community Auditing Program manager during peak registration periods

 

May be asked to take on additional tasks as needed to respond to departmental priorities and new initiatives at direction of Assistant Vice President for Community and Regional Affairs.



Essential Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and energy, manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to interact effectively with others.
  • Ability to manage confidential information
  • Experience with conference/event planning and operation
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet firm deadlines
  • Flexibility; resourcefulness; adaptability to changing needs and demands
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Proficiency in social media (Facebook)

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Princeton University policies, procedures and systems
  • Ability to monitor and update web pages
