Description

 

Provides complete support for database management, operating system interfaces, development languages and software packages and departmental computing equipment. Provides consultation for junior technical specialists and development staff. Advises management in technical solutions and problem solving.

  • Establishes and maintains databases, related structures, and the environmental infrastructure to support growth, improve performance, and implement enhancements.
  • Provides technical support, consultation, and formal training to developers for database usage, database file design, data dictionary usage, application design and tuning, usage of in-house and vendor supplied utilities, and other technical assistance.
  • Suggests, designs, codes, and supports in-house software to provide the interface between the database, applications, and layered products; to provide the environmental infrastructure; to implement security; and, to automate internal tasks.
  • Assists in the development and enforcement of application-development and data-management standards.
  • Evaluates, installs, upgrades, and maintains database and related software products.
  • Establishes procedures and performs database backups and recovery, as well as offsite disaster recovery.
  • Monitors databases, applications, and system usage; collects statistics to support database and application tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Serves as a liaison with software vendors to trouble shoot and resolve database and related software problems.
  • Trains, guides, and makes assignments to lower-level technical specialists.
  • Provides workstation and PC support for internal staff. Assists in the identification and evaluation of new technologies. Performs other job-related duties as required.

    Qualifications

     

    Bachelors and 5 years experience

    Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.

    Desired experience:

  • Basic knowledge for maintaining Perl and Shell scripts and ability to learn additional languages as needed.
  • Understanding of basic for coding lifecycles using GIT.
  • Ability to work off hours and weekends when the need arises.
  • Experience using Linux based hardware.
  • Some experience with SharePoint administration.
  • Preferred experience:

  • Working Knowledge of Crow Canyon software using NITRO Studio
  • Working knowledge of Action Request System (Remedy) version <= 7.6.4
  • Create Forms and Workflows
  • Manage Notifications in conjunction with workflows.
  • Be able to define and utilize Active Links, Filters, Escalations, and Call Guides.
  • Position may be eligible for Alternative Work Arrangements (AWA).
