Job Description

Provides technical support for programs and organizational activities to convey information, determine compliance, and resolve difficult situations; uses expertise in the implementation and maintenance of technical program guidelines; perform related work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all front office clinic services including: patient scheduling, telephone inquiries, collecting patient fees, referral coordinator, insurance billing, payment posting, compliance management, resolving difficult situations with various constituents, document management (Electronic Medical Record, Financial systems etc.) and day to day clinic operations as directed by the clinic director. Performs a variety of detail-oriented tasks needing complete accuracy to maximize clinic revenue cycle management. Functions with considerable independence and exercise discretion in applying policies and procedures working with patients, vendors, and insurance companies.   Back office services include, performing basic patient care functions to assist the nursing/clinical staff in a medical clinic with the examination or treatment of patients; perform related work under the direction of the physician or provider.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electronic Medical Record System Management (20%) - Maintains patient electronic medical records and ensures that information is complete and accurate.
  • Revenue Cycle Management (5%) - Responsible for collecting and depositing patient and insurance payments with complete accuracy.
  • Clinic Operations (40%) - Patient check-in.  Answers phone calls and addresses routine questions regarding appointments, insurance billing, payments and collections. Other office duties as assigned
  • Insurance/ Medicaid Compliance (5%) - Coordinates with clinicians ensures documentation is returned within insurance and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Medical Assisting (30%) - Assist nurses or physicians in the operation of medical equipment or provision of individual's care.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

  • Monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors.
  • Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs.
  • Analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues.
  • Dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in stressful situations.
  • Entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system.
  • Composing and proofreading business correspondence.

Additional Information

ISU minimum for this classification is $17.67/hour.
