Job Description

Provides technical support for programs and organizational activities to convey information, determine compliance, and resolve difficult situations; uses expertise in the implementation and maintenance of technical program guidelines; perform related work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for updating and maintaining communication plans and building reports in our recruitment/prospect system. Under the direction of the Technical Processing Coordinator (TPC), the Process Specialist (PS) will also configure and manage admission applications data, workflow, setup, and data migration processes.  The PS will update and maintain the degree audit system (DegreeWorks) based on prioritization and direction from the Technical Process Coordinator. Working with the Dean and Associate Dean, the Process Specialist will administer Graduate Council and research, analysis, problem-solving, and discretion of judgment in determining an appropriate course of action related to Graduate Council processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrator for Graduate Council, including meeting and document management, workflow, and processing with the registrar’s office. [25%]
  • Assists with refining the Graduate School recruitment processes, including building and utilizing ongoing communication with the individual programs.  [25%]
  • DegreeWorks (degree audit) maintenance and testing. [20%]
  • Assisting with student records management, utilizing, maintaining, and testing various applications within admissions, auxiliary software, Banner, and others. [15%]
  • Improve document workflows, including utilization and implementation of additional electronic documentation. [15%]

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

  • Monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors.
  • Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs.
  • Analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues.
  • Dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in stressful situations.
  • Entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system.
  • Composing and proofreading business correspondence.

Specialty Items

These are common specialty items at ISU for this classification. Not having experience or education in these areas will not disqualify applications from consideration. 

(1) Experience reviewing/assessing health care claims & terminology.                

(2) Experience reviewing/assessing dental claims & terminology.                

(3) Experience storing, retrieving and compiling information in a report format using database software.               

(4) Experience working with sensitive or restricted data.                

(5) Some knowledge of financial record keeping.                

(6) Some knowledge of data management.                

(7) Good knowledge of university academic and/or vocational program requirements and experience applying university policies and procedures to determine graduation requirements.
