What We Want 

The Technical Laboratory Coordinator will coordinate daily laboratory activities, operations, instructional programs, and maintenance for the department's A&P courses. The selected candidate will be responsible for correcting any problems with laboratory preparations and assisting teaching assistants with equipment training, materials, technical support, exam preparation and makeup laboratories. What You Need to Know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience

  • Three years of experience in either teaching or setting up science teaching labs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Supervisory experience

  • May occasionally lift/move/carry moderately heavy weight

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Biology or related field

  • Five years teaching experience in high school or college level laboratories in Biology, Chemistry, or related field, including 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Professional experience within human anatomy and physiology, animal physiology, embryology or other related science field

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Texas Driver license

  • CPR/1st aid certification

  • Hazardous chemical training

  • FAMIS training

Responsibilities:

  • Lab Operations: Assists with and supervises daily laboratory preparation for the courses. Trouble-shoots lab protocols and makes recommendations for improvements to lab procedures. Corrects any problems with laboratory preparations. May supervise assigned staff.

  • Lab Stocking & Ordering: Orders lab materials, makes annual requisitions, bid reviews, purchase orders, arranges for local purchases, maintains expendable equipment inventories. May require use of University vehicle to transports supplies/materials. Maintains course order record database and budget information.

  • Lab Maintenance: Coordinates lab maintenance with appropriate Biology personnel. Coordinates with university personnel outside of biology.

  • Lab Conservation: Responsible for the care of teaching collections.

  • Annual Inventory & Reporting: Supervises annual chemical inventory, maintains records and complies with reporting requirements.

  • Lab Assistance: Assists teaching assistants with equipment training, materials, technical support, exam preparation and makeup laboratories, and performs other duties as assigned.
