Position Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Human Resources, Executive Education, the Talent Acquisition Manager is part of the Harvard Business School (HBS) Executive Education (ExEd ) HR team, supporting over 200 full-time staff members. The Manager position enables (ExEd) to attract and retain top talent. The Manager is responsible for implementing the organization’s recruitment strategy to support its business strategy, ensuring that the best people are in the appropriate roles at the right time. In collaboration with (ExEd)hiring managers, HBS Human Resources, and the (ExEd) HR team, the Manager will also assist in administering other HR processes.

Position Description

  • Lead recruitment and outreach efforts and events in partnership with hiring managers and HBS HR, oversee hiring and all associated activities, including reviewing resumes, screening and interviewing candidates, and administering appropriate assessment and reference checking.
  • Assist with developing and implementing diversity recruiting initiatives in support of the School and ExEd department affirmative action hiring goals.
  • Develop and implement advertising and related recruitment strategies; track hiring timeframes and recommend process adjustments.
  • Serve on the HBS HR Talent Acquisition Partners team, meeting on a regular basis to keep up to date on best practices.
  • Educate hiring managers on HR policies.
  • Manage a variety of processes and forms including resumes, candidate tracking forms, HBS HR’s hiring software, and other confidential communications.
  • Partner with the Director and Assistant Director, ExEd HR on continually evaluating and improving a comprehensive talent management strategy.
  • Analyze, identify, and track trends related to staff retention and turnover to forecast hiring needs. Keep leadership informed of changing recruitment metrics and practices.
  • Foster and contribute to an environment that attracts and retains a diverse, effective, collaborative, and engaged pool of talent.
  • May assist in recruiting for positions in the HBS Online department.
  • This role is responsible for other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in human resources, talent acquisition, or related higher education administration capacity.
  • Recruiting experience required.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage projects and processes from conception through delivery.
  • Effective relationship management skills to effect change in a collaborative environment
  • Strong sense of priorities and able to handle various job openings simultaneously, “hands-on” and “can-do” mentality, acting with urgency.
  • Sound judgment and critical thinking abilities.
  • The ability to handle confidential information with a high degree of discretion
  • Experience with difficult conversations.
  • Deep understanding of the diplomacy and protocol involved in building and maintaining productive, positive relationships with staff.

Additional Information

This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and on site work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday - Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.
