JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


Penn State Wilkes-Barre Trio Student Success Services is seeking a candidate for an Administrative Support Assistant to serve as the first point of contact for the program. The successful candidate will be working with First-Generation and socio-economic disadvantaged college students.

Student Support Services is externally funded by the Department of Education TRIO Grant and is in the fourth year of a five-year cycle. This is a term appointment through the university, funded until August 31, 2025, with an excellent possibility of refunding.

 The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:  

  • Greet students, provide information, and refer as appropriate. 

  • Screen and process routine telephone communications, mail, and requests. 

  • Schedule and maintain a calendar of appointments, meetings, travel itineraries, etc. 

  • Coordinate travel arrangements, make reservations, and process reimbursements. 

  • Create and Maintain files and databases, program website, and list serves.

  • Assemble and format data to create simple reports. 

  • Prepare documents, meeting materials, and correspondence. 

  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information and materials. 

  • Compose and edit written communication. 

  • Maintain inventory and order/purchase office supplies; arrange for equipment -maintenance; process work orders for facilities repairs/needs. 

  • Assist with budget management for the federally funded Trio SSS program.

This position typically requires a High School diploma or higher and at least 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, solid computer skills including proficiency in Access and Excel; the ability to multi-task, and possess a proven track record of working effectively with students in a team environment. Technological and social media skills are a plus. Confidentiality and knowledge of FERPA are required. May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers or volunteers.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
