Position Summary: 

Incumbent is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of the UCI Health Server Infrastructure. Incumbent is expected to learn and know new technology that impacts systems and quickly resolve any problems involved in integrating new technologies with internal systems. Incumbent supports systems for four data centers running over 1400 Windows and Linux based servers and 8000 client machines. Incumbent is expected to conduct system analysis and development with limited support and direction.  Incumbent produces documentation including server specifications, disaster recovery, and application recovery manuals in text and web-based formats.

Salary Range: 

 

Annual Rate  Minimum  $100,600.00                         Midpoint               $145,700.00                         Maximum              $190,800.00

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Skill to independently prioritize projects and meet deadlines
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in IT server, network and storage
  • Expertise with the following technologies:
    -            Boot from SAN: advanced
    -            Fiber Channel (FC) including FC Zoning, WWNs, and storage fabric: advanced
    -            Layer 2 networking: expert
    -            Layer 3 networking: advanced
    -            VMware clustering and networking: expert
    -            Cisco UCS networking: advanced
    -            NSX-T networking: advancedTCP/IP, ARP, DHCP, UDP, TCP, DNS, Routing & Firewalls: advanced
    -            Windows Failover Clustering:entry
    -            Linux: entry
    -       Cisco IOS & NX-OS as well with LACP, PaGP and VPC trunking: entry
  • Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner
  • Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance
  • Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
    Demonstrated skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and abilities associated with system problem identification and resolution
  • Experience with design, configuration, operation, repair, and tuning of technology systems
  • Advanced experience writing and editing the most complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration
  • Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing most complex server-based software
  • Must be self-motivated with an ability to work well with teams
  • Demonstrated skill to work independently and to prioritize and manage a relative number of simultaneous requests and to work on tasks which may not be clearly defined
  • Adept at problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • CCNP or Higher
  • Previous work experience supporting Windows OS and Citrix Presentation Server
  • VMWare Certification
  • Previous work experience with scripting using: VMware PowerCLI & Powershell, Bash and Python
  • Knowledge of medical and academic industry structures
