Sustainable Transportation Coordinator

Job Description:

In this role, you will manage and deliver all transportation services and programs at Champlain College. Work collaboratively to plan, develop, and implement  Active Transportation and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs in alignment with campus-wide master plans.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage the Transportation and Parking Systems
    • Coordinate parking permit sales, enforce parking rules, manage student employees, oversee collections, coordinate with City of Burlington, manage appeals process, facilitate parking lot maintenance, and respond to additional parking-related issues as needed. 
    • Collaborate with municipal departments, contractors, and transportation providers on transportation programs, TDM, regulatory reporting requirements, and transportation sustainability-related matters.
  • Coordinate the Campus Shuttle and Van Systems
    • Develop annual schedule for campus shuttle and large events, coordinate with contractor, and oversee college's Driver Authorization and Van Certification process.
  • Facilitate Active Transportation (biking, walking, accessibility) Programs 
    • Plan for and order new transportation infrastructure, and organize education events.
  • Provide Transportation for Events
    • Order event shuttles, coordinate with security contractor for parking lot management, and create signage for temporary on-street bus stop locations.
  • Marketing, Outreach, and Community Engagement 
    • Develop digital and physical marketing collateral, oversee content of website, social media and other communications, table at campus events, present at new faculty, staff and student orientations.
    • Participate in local, regional, and national transportation planning and development efforts in association with other colleges and universities, community groups, CATMA, municipalities and professional groups.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Supports campus operations, including Office of Sustainability, Mail Center, and other duties as assigned.
    • Facilitate Transportation Committee meetings as needed.
    • `Process invoices, coordinate with supervisor on future budget needs by assessing future program needs and expenditures annually.


Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service, problem-solving, communication, organizational and analytical skills required
  • Must have strong computer skills including experience with database management and in-depth experience with spreadsheet and word processing software packages, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Two years of related professional experience and strong background in transportation planning, management, marketing, communication and business planning. 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects to deadlines in a customer-focused environment.  
  • Experience in and enthusiasm for logistics/transportation is strongly preferred. Knowledge of the local transit system and other transportation options in greater Burlington/Vermont preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Some weekends, evenings, and early morning work hours are required
  • Use of a cell phone for work texts and phone calls
  • Most work is in an office environment though some outdoor work is required.
