Job Summary

The Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (CeMaST) seeks pre-service teacher candidates to join their STEM Summer Camp Mentor Team. The successful candidate(s) will be capable of working productively with diverse constituencies including the Center's Programming Team and Staff, Graduate Assistants, and University Faculty to implement programs and services supporting the best practices in the use of Mathematics, Science, and Technology at ISU and throughout the state.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Mentors will help lead integrated STEM camps with partner organizations throughout Central Illinois for elementary and middle-school-aged participants. In addition, team members will help develop camp activities and maintain curriculum supplies.
- Provide administrative support such as scanning, copying, and assisting with ordering supplies.
- Provide research assistance as needed, such as downloading research articles, data entry and organization of data.
- Provide assistance with event planning by assembling course material and greeting participants.
- Other duties within these areas may be assigned as needed.
- As described above, this position offers experience in a variety of areas –administrative, event planning, and research.

The mission of CeMaST is to empower, conduct, and support STEM education and scholarship across the K – 16 continuum. CeMaST's Goals are aligned with Illinois State University's strategic plan, Educate, Connect, Elevate.


Pay Rate

$16.00/hour


Required Qualifications

- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
- Outstanding speaking and writing skills
- Ability to do online research
- Strong organizational skills
- High level of professionalism
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).


Preferred Qualifications

- Interest in STEM and STEM Education
- Strong research skills
- Ability to read, summarize, and synthesize research relevant to teaching and learning
- Proofreading, copyediting, and/or manuscript editing experience


Work Hours

M - F 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; Some evenings and weekends may be required
