Posting Summary | Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) Educational Opportunity (EOF) is seeking non-credit instructors to provide virtual and in-person instruction to students in the SEBS EOF Summer START-UP at Rutgers University. Dates include July 8th-July 12th (virtual instruction). July 15th- August 2nd (in-person instruction). The candidate will teach developmental and/or college-level mathematics courses. Responsible for preparing and delivering lectures, moderating classroom discussions, and administering and grading examinations. Maintains accurate grade and attendance records. Adheres to all laws pertaining to disclosure of student records. Be available to students via email, phone and/or by virtual conference during the first week of the program. After the first orientation week all instruction will occur in person on the Livingston Campus in New Brunswick, NJ. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience | Doctoral or Master’s Degree in Mathematics and minimum of 2 year of college-level teaching experience is required. |

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | All positions require superior communication skills, the ability to relate to students, other faculty, and college staff, and the ability to handle a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Must be knowledgeable of Zoom and Canvas platforms to conduct one week of virtual instruction during orientation period. The successful applicants will be a team player, have strong leadership skills, and possess a high-energy level and a positive attitude. The ability to assist students with college-readiness skills is desired. |

Physical Demands and Work Environment | |
Overview | Work closely with the Summer START-UP students to improve their knowledge in math. Develop a lesson plan for the assigned math course. Utilizes the approved curriculum. Develops clearly stated course objectives and learning outcomes. Ensures the objectives and content of the courses taught are current. Work with colleagues to develop or modify the curriculum. Assess students’ progress by grading assignments, papers, exams, and other work. Hold office hours as assigned. Attend weekly staff meeting. Keeps accurate classroom records. Uses and updates the required course management system. Meets deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting midterm grades, and final grades. START UP Summer Program Dates: July 8th-August 2nd July 8th-July 12th Virtual Week 9:00-10:30am In-Person July 15th-August 1st -Weekly Classroom Commitment: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8:30-10:20am Meetings and Other Required Session Dates: Faculty Orientation: TBD Faculty Meetings : Thursdays 12:30-2:00pm (In-Person) Closing Ceremony: Friday, August 2nd TBD |

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals , if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
