Additional Schedule Details: Applicants must work a flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings, mornings, and rotating weekends.

Rate/Salary: $750 stipend, compensated in summer housing

Job Summary/Basic Functions

EKU Housing & Residence Life fosters the development, engagement, and success of our residential community by providing an inclusive home that enhances the collegiate experience. Summer Resident Advisors are integral to the goals of EKU Housing & Residence Life by providing academic resources, safety and security, inclusivity, community engagement, and personal development to our summer residential students.
The Summer Resident Advisor (RA) is a key member of the residential life team responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive community environment for summer residents. This position involves providing guidance, support, and resources to residents while upholding community standards and promoting a positive living experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Support: Serve as a resource and mentor to residents, providing guidance
Community Building: Plan and facilitate community-building activities, programs, and events to foster connections and promote a sense of belonging among residents.
Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies, including medical situations, conflicts, and behavioral issues, following established protocols and procedures.
Policy Enforcement: Enforce housing policies and community standards fairly and consistently, addressing violations and documenting incidents as necessary.
Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts and disputes among residents, facilitating constructive communication and seeking mutually beneficial solutions.
Safety and Security: Monitor the residential environment to ensure the safety and security of residents, reporting any safety hazards or security concerns promptly.
On-Call Duty: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support and respond to emergencies outside of regular business hours.
Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties such as room inspections, key management, and maintaining resident records and documentation.
Resource Referral: Connect residents with campus resources and support services

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Experience: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
Knowledge of campus resources and support services.
Commitment to upholding community standards and promoting inclusivity.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Licensure & Certifications: Must be enrolled at EKU

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous resident assistant experience

Job Duties:

  • 10% - Provide support and coverage during the opening/closing of the summer residence halls. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Build positive relationships and establish healthy communities with residents through Residential Curriculum strategies such as intentional conversations and community events - (Essential)
  • 30% - Participate in on-call rotation for summer residence halls, Colonels Now program, camps, conferences, and special guests - (Essential)
  • 15% - Provide scheduled desk coverage to provide customer service and assistance to students and guests - (Essential)
  • 10% - Assist with facility related tasks such as walkthroughs, key audits, etc. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Other duties as assigned - (Essential)
