Position Summary
Career Readiness Learning Objectives:
Communication – The student worker will develop communication skills in a variety of ways. They will learn through their interaction with employees, staff, and their supervisor while fulfilling their daily responsibilities. Students will also communicate and interact with other departments across the university, which will develop their customer service skills.
Teamwork – Student workers will develop teamwork skills by working with individuals where collaboration, working together, and sharing ideas are necessary.
Position to assist Physical Plant Department in servicing Student Residence Halls and/or Academic buildings. Performs skilled and non-skilled labor involving, but not limited to, minor electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting, wall patching, and plumbing repairs. Other duties may include delivery, setup and repair of equipment appliances. Performs other related duties as assigned, including cleaning of campus buildings and grounds.
Required Qualifications
Must be able to work 30 hours per week.
● Must be able to ascend and descend stairs during emergency situations and on a day-to-day basis in buildings where no elevators are provided
● Must uphold and be publicly supportive of the Gannon University Institutional Policy Manual and the Office of Residence Life Handbook
● Be able to articulate/implement University policies, rules, and regulations
● Demonstrate the willingness to accept supervision and constructive feedback along with the ability to follow directions, work under pressure, and work as a team toward a common goal
● Demonstrate excellent public relations and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
Willingness to learn skilled trades.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
