Title Summer Housing Assistant
Position Description
BSU’s Residence Life and Housing department is looking for Housing Assistants to work over the Summer.
Essential Functions:
1. Be familiar with all rules and regulations of the residence halls, and of the university
2. Be committed to providing excellent customer service to guests

4. Exhibit accuracy and attention to detail
5. Ability to perform light physical tasks
6. Ability and willingness to work as part of a team
7. Act as a role model and, as such, abide by the rules and regulations of the University, and of their individual living environment. Be aware of the impact that a HA’s behavior plays in matters of rights and responsibilities
8. Assist in offering concierge services to groups at varying hours of day/night
9. Make appropriate referrals to university resources or personnel
10. Educate guests concerning university emergency procedures and rules and regulations as necessary
11. Listen to others and respect the rights of all residents and guests by observing confidentiality except where it would result in harm to a student, to others or to university property.
12. Act as a team member. Be caring, supportive, and respectful of each other at all times, and willing to render assistance or support as needed. Accept and support differences in working styles
Administrative & Community Building Tasks:
1. Attend all staff meetings as required by the Associate Director/RLH
2. Provide Support to the main office as needed including but not limited to answer office phones, greeting and assisting guests, and performing lock outs.
3. Be available and know proper procedures for check-ins and check-outs.
4. Check staff mailbox and BSU email daily
5. Assist with the early arrival process in August.
6. Assist with any orientation program needs as directed by the department.
7. Assist with summer conference programs, including keeping an updated, accurate and complete roster of all conference guests
8. Bring all requests for repair to the attention of the Associate Director for the specific building. Assist in maintaining the general condition of the buildings. Housing Assistants will support the department by completing inventories of the residence halls.
9. Serve in a rotation of active-duty hours from 5pm to 10pm.
10. Be available during emergency situations to assist in assuring safety and security of residents and guests.
11. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Houisng Operations & Assignments or designee.
Preferred Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be enrolled for a minimum of six credits at Bridgewater State University for the Fall 2024 semester.
2. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
3. Must be in satisfactory disciplinary status as determined by the Office of Residence Life and Housing.
4. Must be reasonably familiar with academic programs, University and Residence Life and Housing policies and procedures, as well as resources and activities available at the University.
Physical Demands
Students will be required to assist in making beds and preparing for conference guests.
