Title Summer Anthropology Workshop Assistant
Position Description
BSU Faculty are seeking an undergraduate student’s assistance for two three-day workshops in mid-May 2024. These faculty have received a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Georgia to conduct two three-day workshops on May 14, 15, and 16 and again on May 21, 22 and 23 with high school juniors from New Heights Charter School in Brockton, MA, along with international COIL collaboration, both asynchronous and synchronous, with a high school in Gori in the country of Georgia.
The goal of these workshops, called The Crossroads Virtual Museum program, is to address the global task of cultural heritage protection through developing a Georgian-U.S. online VR platform, or “Virtual Museum”, by training teachers and students from both countries in Virtual Reality technologies and engaging these technologies in documenting and preserving cultural monuments and artifacts, focusing on sites and artifacts at risk from military aggression, neglect, development, etc.
The role of the Summer Anthropology Workshop Assistant would be to assist faculty in these workshops, providing logistical support and assisting high school students in their activities, including a museum tour; lunches are provided by the grant.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate BSU student
  • Availability to work 8 hours from 8:30AM to 4:30PM for each workshop on May 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with photogrammetry, 3D modeling, and archaeology are preferred but not required
