PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Student Support: Manage the schedules of student workers while collaborating closely with student coders, designers, and advisors to provide hands-on assistance, mentorship, and technical support throughout their projects. Foster a supportive and inclusive studio atmosphere that encourages innovation and creativity.
  • Project Management: Manage the workflow and project timelines for various student-led initiatives. Facilitate effective communication among team members, ensuring projects stay on track and meet established milestones.
  • Budget Tracking: Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring responsible financial management. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to allocate resources efficiently and optimize project outcomes.
  • Resource Coordination: Oversee the maintenance of necessary equipment and materials for student projects. Work with relevant departments to ensure students have access to the tools they need for successful project completion.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of project progress, expenditures, and outcomes. Provide regular reports to the Creative Director, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Cross-Sector Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to align student projects with institutional goals and industry standards. Foster strong partnerships to enhance the impact of student initiatives.
  • Innovation and Ideation: Encourage students to explore innovative ideas and design concepts. Offer guidance and feedback to push the boundaries of creativity and problem-solving.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.
    • Bachelor's degree 
    • Experience in project management
    • Proficiency in budget tracking and resource management.
    • Strong computer skills; ability to learn new computer programs
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse student populations and stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Passion for fostering a collaborative and innovative studio environment that supports student growth and learning.
    • 2-4 years equivalent practical experience in Higher Education, Project Management, or related field (e.g., Computer Science, Animation, New Media, Design)
    • Familiarity with XR/AI tools and technologies, or ability to support students in troubleshooting with appropriate colleagues on technical issues.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Normal office environment.  Some travel may be required.

    Salary: $36,000 - $40,000

    Department/Division: Central Administration

    Campus: Grand Rapids (Consumers Energy Building)

    Hours for the position: Typically Monday through Friday 12-pm to 8 pm with occasional Saturday hours as student needs arise
