Position Summary Information


Objective
Assist the Technical Theatre Arts Director for Theatre Arts productions, College events, community events, and general facilities and equipment maintenance and organization.
Essential Duties
Under the regular direction and guidance of a supervisor:
1. Execute designs for scenery, lighting, sound, costumes, and properties for Blinn College Theatre productions as directed.
2. As directed, supervise fellow Theatre Arts students in technical theatre areas.
3. Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the technical areas, including the scene shop, costume shop, lighting and sound workroom, storage, and backstage areas.
4. Provide technical support for Blinn College sponsored events in the Performing Arts Center, including Theatre, Music, Student Life, Alumni, Community, and other events as assigned.
5. Complete office duties as assigned.
6. Complete other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Preferred Experience and Training
1. Strong technical theatre background (An employee wishing to work in scenery, lighting, sound, or props should have taken or be currently enrolled in a college-level Stagecraft course or equivalent experience; An employee wishing to work in the costume shop should have taken or be currently enrolled in a college-level Costume course or equivalent experience.)
2. Experience and skills in scene shop tools (table saw, miter saw, circular saw, pneumatic tools), OR in theatre lighting equipment (hang, focus, program), OR in costume construction equipment (hand and machine sewing, serging, building from patterns)
Required Degree, License or Certifications
Physical Requirements
1. Carry items up to 40 lbs
2. Climb ladders, use personnel lifts and work on catwalks, bend, stoop, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stretch, twist the upper body, maintain prolonged standing on concrete floors and walk over uneven terrain
