Job Description

Build on your existing professional skills while you work in providing administrative support to the Office of Medical Education at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. This position is well-suited for someone interested in developing their resume/CV while expanding their professional abilities. The Student Worker will provide clerical support to the Preclerkship (Year 1-2) and Clerkship (Year 3-4) teams within the Office of Medical Education. This position interfaces with medical students, the Director of Curriculum, the Clinical Education Manager, clinic/hospital office managers, and physicians.

Join our team for a dynamic role that encompasses customer service, independent problem-solving, critical thinking, organizational skills, effective time management, and the ability to proactively identify tasks to work on independently.

Responsibilities

In addition to general clerical duties, they will assist with:

  • Coordinating medical student clinical experiences

  • Assisting with periodic orientations

  • Running reports and completing data transfers

  • Regularly following up with preceptors and students for evaluation completion

  • Participate in the development and implementation of educational materials and resources for medical students.

  • Clerical duties and special projects as assigned by Director of Curriculum

  • Maintain confidentiality of all student records and sensitive information

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno

  • Candidate must have intermediate proficiency in clerical applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, DocuSign, Zoom, etc.

  • Candidate must have the ability to prioritize competing demands

  • Successful candidates enjoy working within a high-stakes, deadline-focused environment

  • Candidate must maintain professional communication and professional personal presentation across stakeholders within UNR Med (including faculty, staff, senior leadership, and students)

  • Candidate must respond in a timely manner to written communications (email, Teams) during the student's established work hours is a priority

  • Candidate must keep confidentiality when working with sensitive material, and foster the trust of staff, faculty, students and senior leaders

  • Candidate must maintain communication regarding successes, challenges, and strategic decisions between team members and supervisors

  • Candidate must be proficient in proof-reading/copy-editing within an academic/professional environment

  • Candidate must have the ability to work year-round (vacations permitted)

  • Candidate currently enrolled in or anticipating enrolling in the UNR M.D. Program are not eligible for this position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a university program focused on education, administration, healthcare, or other related fields

  • Candidate has experience in an office or similar environment

  • Candidate has Workday experience or similar

  • Candidate has the desire to work year-round through December 2025 or May 2026, depending on graduation date

Schedule

Expected hours to work per week: 20

Established per semester around class schedule

Hours preferably within the business hours of Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Location will be primarily UNR Medicine main campus, though travel to the Moana Clinic will be necessary at times

Can be remote during academic vacations
