Job Description

The College of Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for Engineering Ambassadors for The Engineering Recruitment and Outreach Program. Engineering Ambassadors will assist the Undergraduate and Graduate Recruiter with recruitment activities and social media for the College of Engineering. In addition, the ambassador will be working with other members of the Recruitment and Outreach team, as needed. The ambassador will be collaborating with stakeholders across the campus to help in the recruitment of prospective students by creating an engaging environment. The Engineering Ambassadors will be participating in these recruitment efforts by producing/filming and participating in videos to be used across a few platforms to engage prospective students and their families.


The Engineering Ambassadors will also assist in high school visits whether that is at the respective high school’s college and career events or by visiting classrooms to discuss the College of Engineering. Engineering Ambassadors will also assist in events hosted by other offices on campus. These events will be interactive and engaging with prospective students and their families. In addition, events throughout the semester will be scheduled by the College of Engineering that will include participation in varying forms of engaging with students, creating photo or video content, and assisting in logistics of events.

 

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

  • Create videos with faculty and other students to promote College of Engineering’s majors, programs, research, etc.

  • In addition to the video create a written piece (100 to 150 words) describing the topic of the video

  • Create videos for social media and other systems as needed.

  • Will work on content/trends that may do well on social media

  • May also be asked to work on editing of content

  • Collaborate with faculty in College of Engineering and other departments across campus (i.e., Office for Prospective Students) to assist in recruitment efforts.

  • Assist Recruiter and Coordinator of Recruitment and Outreach with high school visits or fairs.

  • Assist Recruiter with Nevada Bounds, Nevada Exclusives and other on campus/virtual events as needed.

  • Be comfortable with speaking 1:1 with students or their families about the College of Engineering.

  • May include discussing degrees, research, living learning communities, clubs and organizations, College of Engineering student resources as well as campus student resources

  • May assist with presentations at events or high school visits as needed.

  • May be asked to be in some videos for social media, website use or other management systems.

  • Assist with retention phone calls to admitted students that have not accepted their admissions.

  • Will meet 1:1 with supervisor (Recruiter) monthly.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

Candidate must be an undergraduate engineering major at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Must be familiar with Microsoft products (i.e., Outlook, Teams, etc.)
Candidate must be self-motivated and a creative problem solver.
Candidate must have effective leadership and communication skills.
Candidate has excellent interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
Candidate can work independently and in team settings, carrying out assignment to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
