Job Description

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Budget and Assessment. The ASUN Programming Board exists to inspire and unite the University of Nevada students through programming events derived from Nevada traditions, cultural diversity, large-scale entertainment, and athletics.

The Assistant Director of the Budget will be responsible for all administrative duties, including accounting matters that pertain to the ASUN Event Programming Budget and filling out proper paperwork. The Assistant Director of the Budget will be responsible for all accounting matters that pertain to the ASUN Event Programming Budget.

Note: This ASUN Student Leader position is an appointed member of the student government. By applying for this position, you are considered a candidate for the position and must meet the requirements of eligibility for the office for which they are running as stated in the ASUN Constitution and the ASUN Statutes of the Associated Students. Responsibilities

The duties of Assistant Director of the Budget include but are not limited to:  

  • Act as Director in the absence or at the request of the Director of Programming

  • Responsible for all administrative duties, including accounting matters that pertain to the ASUN Programming Budget and filling out proper paperwork

  • Responsible for all accounting matters that pertain to the ASUN Event Programming Budget

Current Potential Legislative Changes to the Position: Assistant Director of Budget and Assessment

  • The Assistant Director will be responsible for all administrative duties pertaining to the budget, including accounting matters and paperwork that pertains to the ASUN Event Programming Budget.

  • The Assistant Director will serve as the representative from the Department at all Budget and Finance Meetings which pertain to the Department. 

  • The Assistant Director will perform assessments and collect data from implemented events at least three times during each academic semester. The Assistant Director will present that data to the board.

  • The Assistant Director will work with the Vice President to serve as a liaison between ASUN and Athletics. 

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno

  • ASUN Student Leader Agreement  

  • During my tenure of this appointed position, I agree to adhere to the following guidelines: 

    • Maintain a 2.75 GPA and be enrolled in at least 7 credits 

    • Perform all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents 

    • Uphold the Nevada Student Code of Conduct 

    • Meet all deadlines set forth  

    • Attend all required meetings and trainings 

    • Work scheduled hours 

    • Properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time  

    • Assist in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada 

    • Behave in a manner that is ethical, maintaining a high level of integrity 

    • Other duties as called upon by my position 

    • I understand not adhering to the items outlined in this agreement or what is stated in the ASUN Governing Documents, my position may be subject disciplinary action by the ASUN Judicial Council and/or the University of Nevada. 

Compensation Grade

Student Employee Level 2

$12.00 an hour distributed evenly over a 12-month period, not to exceed $5,000.00 in a single term.

Department Information

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada is made up of every undergraduate student at the University of Nevada. ASUN provides a means for students to voice concerns and address issues at the university, local, state, national, and international levels.

The administrative faculty in the Center for Student Engagement support and challenge the elected and appointed Student Officers. ASUN and the Center for Student Engagement nurtures a culture for appointed and elected student leaders that foster learning outside of the academic classroom by creating an educational environment that connects the campus community to the importance of processes that lead to student self-governance and civic engagement.

All Elected or Appointed student leaders are under the advisement of the administrative faculty in the Center for Student Engagement.
