Shift
Start date would be late April or early May and position would go through August with potential to keep working during the school year, if desired.
20-30 hours of work per week and available between 8 am and 5 pm (no nights or weekends)
Job Summary
Participate in commercial vegetable research this spring and summer. There are many opportunities to learn new and useful skills while assisting with managing vegetable plots that provide necessary information to Kentucky vegetable growers.
Activities include:
  • Harvesting vegetable plots
  • Soil sampling
  • Assisting with data collection
  • Assisting with field management (fertilizing, weeding, tractor work, etc.)
  • Limited indoor lab work—collecting soil weights, drying soil, inputting data from datasheets
  • Assisting graduate students with their projects

  • Must have a reliable cell phone
  • Must have a reliable car to travel to the Horticulture Research Farm approximately 4 miles from campus (4321 Emmert Farm Lane, Lexington, KY) OR have a driver’s license for at least 5 years
