About the Opportunity
Northeastern University is seeking a passionate and qualified individual to join our team as a Neurodiversity Coach. This position involves working closely with neurodiverse students, fostering an inclusive environment, and providing support to enhance their academic and personal success. The ideal candidate will have a background in special education, social work, case management, or counseling, and a strong commitment to embracing neurodiversity as an integral part of our community.
The neurodiversity coach will manage a caseload of neurodiverse students, ensuring personalized support and attention as well as collaborating with academic advisors, faculty, and other campus staff to coordinate comprehensive support services. This position entails conducting weekly one-on-one meetings with neurodiverse students to address individual needs and concerns and provide guidance on executive functioning skills, time management, and organization. The coach will help foster an inclusive campus environment that embraces neurodiversity as a strength and will collaborate with faculty and staff to implement inclusive practices. The role empowers students to advocate for themselves and works collaboratively to enhance students’ confidence and sense of empowerment within the university community. The job requires staying current on research and best practices related to neurodiversity
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's or master's degree in special education, social work, counseling, psychology or related field.
· Experience working with neurodiverse populations, including individuals with Autism and ADHD.
· Strong understanding and appreciation for neurodiversity as a valuable aspect of human diversity.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in case management and providing individualized support.
