Salary Information $46,665.00 - $48,064.95
Department Summary
The Office of Disability Access (ODA) at the University of North Texas exists to prevent discrimination on the basis of disability and to help students reach a higher level of independence. It is the mission of the ODA to engage and collaborate with faculty and other campus partners to ensure students with disabilities at the University of North Texas have access to all university programs, services, and activities; promote equity and inclusion for students with disabilities; and provide a platform for accessible pedagogical innovation.
Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to serve as an accommodation specialist and case manager for students with disabilities served by the UNT Office of Disability Accommodation (ODA). Provides disability-related advising and counseling to students and facilitates development of student autonomy, technology usage, campus support resources, community resources, employment, and academic success. Provides office support in keeping up to date with trends in ADA compliance and accommodation issues; contributes to budgetary management and statistical collection. Serves as primary outreach liaison and programming organizer with faculty, staff, and students.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
• Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
• Experience in networking across departments and programs.
• Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Neurodivergent adults
Experience working with Adults with Mental Health diagnoses
Required License / Registration / Certification
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday (8am to 5pm); Occasional nights or weekends for certain programs/events.

Job Duties


o
Manage caseload of students, e.g. accommodation coordination, referral to resources, advising, and course registration. Conduct student registration meetings to determine reasonable accommodations and need for evaluation or referrals.
o
Review student-referenced disability related documentation for service eligibility. Assess the interaction of the student’s disability with the environment to determine reasonable accommodations. Responsive to student communications.
o
Maintains thorough and accurate records relating to student documentation, service requests, and communications
o
Research and evaluate best practices and trends in postsecondary accessibility solutions
o
Communicate effectively and diplomatically with faculty, staff, and students in addressing ODA accommodation procedures
o
Consult with supervisor to develop strategies, partnerships, and initiatives to further the mission of the ODA to maximize campus access for all persons with disabilities
o
Develops, implements, and assesses ADA awareness programming for campus and administers referral network for on and off campus resources that benefit students with disabilities.
o
Maintain working knowledge of university policies and procedures
o
Maintain cordial relationships with faculty, staff and students on campus by being responsive to students, faculty, and staff requests and communications and working cooperatively with other student services entities,
