The Student Services Coordinator is one of three staff positions in the ELH Academic Support Center (ASC). The ASC staff provide support to faculty, staff, and students in the 11 academic units and 27 undergraduate majors of the college, responding to a high volume of requests. This position is involved in the primary administrative and student support functions of the ASC through the tasks listed below. The Student Services Coordinator has a key role in supporting the Nursing undergraduate program specifically. This position also supports the college and the Academic Support Center with implementing new academic initiatives. Typical hiring salary for this position is $42,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required: 

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field or significant experience in a related area with the ability to exercise independent judgment. 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing on sensitive student matters. 
  • Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Office programs. 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and manage multiple projects.  
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. 
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and to work well under the stress of deadlines with minimum supervision.  
  • Ability to interpret and establish policies. 
  • Ability to handle and impart information of a confidential nature. 
  • Experience working with undergraduate students. 
  • Proven experience providing administrative support, including organizing and prioritizing tasks, scheduling meetings, serving as a liaison to various departments at a large organization, and managing general office needs. 

Preferred: 

  • Knowledge of UMaine policies and academic programs; understanding of ELH programs is a plus. 
  • Experience with MaineStreet and Navigate platforms. 
  • Previous supervisory experience.   
  • Ability and willingness to learn, gain proficiency, and use new software applications. 
  • Previous advising experience. 
  • Working knowledge of FERPA and mandatory reporting requirements. 
  • Friendly demeanor and customer service-oriented attitude.
