Job Summary: The Student Services Associate II provides moderately-complex administrative support to the Office of the University Registrar with particular emphasis on the use of technology in providing service to students and administrators. Assists with registration troubleshooting, batch updates, error resolution, and manual registration adjustments upon request as submitted by the colleges. Monitors the Registrar’s Inbox and directs inquiries appropriately. Facilitates all registration-related orientation activities. Evaluates and processes requests for Academic Bankruptcy, Academic Second Opportunity, and Medical Withdrawal.


Additional Department Summary: Utilizes independent professional judgment based on broad knowledge of University academic policy in processing requests, devising solutions, and providing direction to students, parents, faculty, administrators, and the general public under minimal supervision. Serves as the primary point of email contact to all inquiries submitted to the Registrar’s Inbox on behalf of the Office of the University Registrar (OUR). Processes registration and student services-related requests, and/or directs communications to the appropriate campus department. Processes requests pertaining to student registration, specifically all class reinstatements, drops, mass registration adjustments, priority registration troubleshooting, and providing solutions to student registration errors. Also responsible for processing petitions for Academic Bankruptcy, Academic Second Opportunity, and medical withdrawal. Routes all requests to additional approving departments as needed. Coordinates with college and departmental staff to resolve requests submitted via Administrative Add/Drop Application. Facilitates all registration-related Bama Bound Orientation activities on behalf of OUR. Resolves error reporting associated with registration, student curriculum, and census data. Supports the Student Services Area of OUR by assisting with telephone calls to the general office line and provides back-up support to Student Services staff as needed. Tests usage and enhancements to OUR web applications.


Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of administrative experience; OR associate’s degree.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Experience in an administrative professional or student services office setting.


Skills and Knowledge: Communication and problem solving skills. Knowledge of University academic policies. Proficiency in the operation and use of personal computers and computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite or other equivalent office application software. Exceptional interpersonal skills. The ability to perform work independently, analyze and resolve data-related issues, use discretion, and set and achieve priorities. Sound judgment.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Banner Student Information System. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Substantial working knowledge or experience with Banner Student forms and processes. Knowledge of UA academic policy through direct or related work experience.
