Job Summary

The College of Health Sciences and Technology (CHST) seeks a collaborative and creative individual to design and execute engaging events and communications for current and prospective CHST students.

As a key member of the Student Services team, this position supports CHST students, advisors, and the Assistant Dean for Advising and Student Success. This position will take the lead on logistics, promotion and decision-making to maximize attendance and brand impression at college-wide events as well as all aspects of CHST representation at university-wide events. Event coordination, management, and communication with CHST faculty and staff is a primary responsibility.

This individual works independently, and also in partnership with colleagues, to produce effective marketing materials that drive college initiatives. Additional responsibilities include the management of the college’s digital display and social media, creating original content, as well as supporting posting requests from faculty, staff, and student orgs. This role hires and supervises 2-3 student employees to support activities.

The position requires a highly-organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative individual with an ability to manage a strong network of relationships. A successful candidate will be positive and energetic, ready to hit the ground running in a professional, team-oriented environment. 


Job Responsibilities

Please Note: This position requires the ability to work extended days, evenings and weekends as needed for events.

  • Student Support and Office Operations:
    • Serve as the main point of contact for the Student Services Office. Assist with student inquiries and office operations, including advisor assignments, enrollment of freshmen cohorts, forms processing, and appointment scheduling. Utilizes SIS, MyCourses, and other technology to support these efforts. Monitor advising and general college email accounts.
  • Events Management – Recruitment Events:
    • Plan and execute CHST participation at RIT Admissions recruitment events including open houses and virtual events. Collaborate with the CHST leadership to create and execute programming that will encourage applications and enrollment.
  • Events Management – Coordinate New & Transfer Student Orientation events:
    • Serve as College Rep for Orientation Committee.
  • Events Management – Coordinate Brick City Weekend events:
    • Serve as College Rep to the Brick City Weekend Coordinating Committee
  • Strategic Communications & Marketing:
    • Create, edit, and manage all event communications going out from the CHST Student Services Office. Produce and/or assist with creation of high-quality recruitment and marketing materials (brochures, posters, emails, social media, etc.) for college-wide strategic initiatives and events.
    • Utilize marketing strategies in preparing communications such as establishing CTAs, effective subject lines, and engaging copy. Track engagement metrics to identify improvements for the future.
  • Digital Display & Social Media:
    • Create and push content as requested using Canva and other graphic design programs. Oversee student worker creation/assistance with flyers. Monitor/handle event submissions requests from student orgs and college constituents. Post college flyers and remove outdated flyers within Signage Manager program. Post university flyers which come in Mar/Com's weekly package. Monitor/handle event submissions requests from student orgs and college constituents.
  • Academic Actions and Dean’s List Notifications:
    • Assist with coordination of the academic action process and Dean’s List notifications each term.
  • Oversee Student Employees:
    • Advertise open positions. Interview, train, and supervise student employees in support of office activities. Oversee and direct their work. Sign off on Kronos timecards, create schedules and approve time off requests.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of event planning or marketing experience, or related field
  • Experience planning and/or executing successful events
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and partners
  • Strive to maximize event attendance and brand impression while ensuring the best experiences for key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a timely manner.
  • Must be organized, reliable, thorough, and creative with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to initiate and lead projects in new, strategic directions.
  • Ability to problem solve, remain calm under pressure, and adjust plans quickly.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently.
  • Willingness to work respectfully and collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholder groups.
  • Experience using technology to support key job requirements (i.e., Google Suite, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office).
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder needs at once.
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends throughout the academic year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a graphic design tool such as InDesign or Canva

The College of Health Sciences and Technology will build on a foundation of liberal arts and basic sciences.
