Job Description Summary
Provide general research support.
Responsibilities
● The PLTA will support the Lab instructor during the General Chemistry 2 Lab, CHEM 150L with laboratory safety and peer instruction.
● The PLTA will be trained in general laboratory safety measures and will support the instructor in safety precautions.
● The PLTA will be trained in the chemistry laboratory procedures to support students enrolled in CHEM 150L with correct laboratory skills.
● Attend weekly training sessions in order to be prepared for the laboratory procedure to be completed each week.
● Ability to generate laboratory skills content to be distributed to the laboratory students.
● The PLTAs will be a part of an advisory group to provide feedback about improvements to the CHEM 150L experiments.
● Availability for a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 CHEM 150L lab sections per week. Each CHEM 150L laboratory section is 4 hours.
● The CHEM 150L labs are held from 8 AM-12 PM, 1 PM-5 PM, and 6 PM-10 PM Monday through Friday.
● Total hours per week would be between 12-16 hours, depending on the number of lab sections supporting.
Required Qualifications
Little to minimal prior experience. Ability to learn departmental processes. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
