Job Summary
Student Affairs at Auburn University is excited to begin the search for a First Year Experience Student Programs Coordinator! This position is responsible for administration, program development, and logistics for both the Learning Community and First Year Seminar (academic courses) programs, including teaching multiple sections of the First Year Seminar, as well as other tasks related to the administration of Learning Communities, First Year Seminars, and activities sponsored by the First Year Experience Office. Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students is expected. Some night and weekend hours may be required.

Essential Functions
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates student-focused services or programs.
  • Collaborates with departments, committees, and individuals throughout the University to advance and enhance the effectiveness of the service or program.
  • Develops and coordinates effective educational outreach, marketing, and training strategies and materials.
  • Develops and manages reports and information used to enhance service or program effectiveness.
  • Provides support to other Student Affairs initiatives as needed.
  • Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates students, staff, and interns in designated programmatic areas.
  • May assist with budget responsibilities for a program.
  • This position requires the incumbent to teach a credit-bearing course

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Development, Higher Education, Educational Psychology, or Curriculum/Pedagogy
Level I - Master’s degree
Level II – Master’s degree plus 2 years of experience in student affairs administration, student programming, orientation, or related field.

Level III -
Master’s degree plus 4 years of experience in student affairs administration, student programming, orientation, or related field.
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
Doctoral degrees accepted in lieu of experience, at a rate of one year of relevant education per year of required experience.

  • Knowledge of transitional issues for new students.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of relevant student development theories and pedagogy, teaching and/or learning community experience, and website design skills are preferred.
