Description of Work Unit | Colorado State University University Advancement Student Operations Manager The Annual Giving & Membership (AGM) unit at Colorado State University is seeking a Student Operations Manager to oversee student employees and inform the strategy of student-operated fundraising programs. Who We Are Located in the beautiful town of Fort Collins, Colorado, CSU is a premier land-grant university with world-class programs in education, outreach, and research. CSU has a student body of 33,000 students, 7,400 employees, 256,000 living alumni, and annual research expenditures exceeding $456 million. Within CSU, the Division of University Advancement is integral to achieving and sustaining the University’s institutional excellence through fundraising and engagement efforts. With one of the leading development teams in the country, the Division most recently reached its $1 billion campaign goal 19 months ahead of schedule. The CSU Alumni Association facilitates meaningful relationships between its 256,000+ alumni and the University. Using a combination of proven alumni engagement strategies and new, innovative approaches, the Alumni Association strives to celebrate the success of our alumni, build an emotional connection back to the CSU, and help alumni to identify connections that are meaningful to them. In addition, the Association also utilized the Iris & Michael Smith Alumni Center to serve as a place of pride and home to alumni when they return to campus as well as a space to engage students. The Annual Giving and Membership (AGM) team is responsible for seeking funds and Alumni Association memberships on a regular basis from a broad constituency. This is accomplished by identifying alumni, friends, parents, and other individuals with an affinity for CSU and then soliciting gifts on an annual or more frequent basis. AGM strives to engage and educate potential donors to include the University in their annual philanthropic plans, as well as to identify and solicit annual donors capable of making leadership annual gifts or Alumni Association Lifetime Memberships. The Annual Giving and Membership team is responsible for raising support from Alumni, Friends, Parents, Faculty & Staff, and Students totaling more than $3 million annually from more than 35,000 donors. Additionally, we are the unit primarily responsible for growing the University’s Alumni Participation Rate, a metric in the US News and World Report college rankings. |
Position Summary | The Student Operations Manager participates as an essential member of the Annual Giving and Membership team, overseeing the Digital Engagement Center (DEC) and Student Donor Experience Officer (SDXO) programs, as well as providing subject matter expertise for student-driven fundraising efforts. The Student Operations Manager will be responsible for the daily operation of the DEC, including the opening and closing of the center, supervising up to 14 students during calling shifts, providing a professional and fun atmosphere, training, reporting, planning calling pools, and coaching student callers and student managers. The Student Operations Manager will also be responsible for the creation and successful launch of the SDXO program, a new iteration of student-driven fundraising at CSU. This will involve learning best practices and current trends in the DXO space, identifying vendors and services necessary to the program, developing and testing outreach strategies, and hiring SDXO student employees. This successful candidate will infuse diversity, and inclusion into all aspects of their role to contribute to inclusive excellence and to ensure colleagues and donors of all backgrounds feel represented and included. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Annual Giving and Membership. This position is fully in-person/in-office and will work an atypical schedule of Sundays and Monday-Thursday evenings. |
