Position Summary Information
General Information | The Math & Statistics Department is looking for two (2) student office assistant to join our team! We are a laid-back and welcoming department and seek students who are happy to help faculty/staff with scanning, copies, grading, exams, and more. These students will also have the responsibility of cleaning blackboards and erasers approximately once a week. Work hours flexibility is helpful, and we will accommodate your class schedule. Average 10 hours per week with a maximum of 20 in special circumstances. The ideal employees would be available at least some of the following times: 8-9am Monday-Friday 12-2pm Monday – Friday *After 12pm on Fridays |

Duties and Responsibilities | 1. Serve as student office assistant for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics; act as manager when supervisor or AUH are unavailable. 2. Make copies/scans of syllabi, texts, handouts, etc. as requested by faculty and staff; collate and staple as necessary. 3. Run errands on campus including material delivery and pick-up in other buildings. 4. Distribute incoming mail daily, notify recipients and other building departments of mail delivery. 5. Wipe down and clean blackboards, trays, and erasers in classrooms as requested. 6. Prepare mass mailings, type up correspondence, file and organize, etc. 7.Perform data entry and grading as requested by faculty and deemed appropriate by supervisor. 8. Serve as first point of contact to all office and department visitors. 9. Assist with department event preparation and cleanup as needed. 10. Provide timely notice of absences, limit absences as much as possible, and make your best attempt to have your shift covered. |
Qualifications | REQUIRED: proof of financial aid for FWS eligibility, enrolled in at least 6 academic credits, minimum 2.0 GPA. PREFERRED: very reliable, flexible schedule, willing to learn, positive attitude, friendly, some experience working with the public. |
Conditions of Employment | Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate). Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
