Job Summary: The Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Health Services Administration Department is currently seeking a Student Digital Assistant to join their team. The Student Digital Teaching Assistant (DTA) plays a crucial role in enhancing the digital learning experience for students. Working closely with the Health Services Administration (HSA) fully Online Programs faculty members, the DTA supports the integration of technology in teaching and learning processes. This part-time position is ideal for students who are passionate about technology, education, and helping others succeed academically.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of online course materials.
- Ensure that digital content is accessible and up-to-date on the learning management system (LMS).
- Help in organizing and digitizing course resources for easy access by students.
- Monitor online forums and discussion boards to ensure a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Encourage student engagement in online activities and discussions.
- Provide feedback to faculty on student engagement and suggestions for enhancing interactive learning.
- Assist in the digital setup of assessments and assignments.
- Support the faculty in tracking submissions and distributing digital feedback to students.
- Help in evaluating (grading) assignments, discussions, and assessments, and offer constructive feedback.
- Stay informed about new digital tools and technologies that can enhance teaching and learning.
- Suggest innovative digital solutions to improve course delivery and student engagement to the supervising HSA faculty member.
- Assist in the scheduling and organization of virtual office hours and online sessions.
- Perform additional tasks related to digital teaching as assigned by the supervising HSA faculty member.
Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.
Intermediate level of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of PC operations and specialized software.
Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.
Strong technical skills and proficiency in learning management systems and common educational technologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Student Assistant
- Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
- During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
- Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
This part-time position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate academic schedules. This is on a semester-by-semester basis, depending on need.
