Position Summary:

This position reports to the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. The Director of Student Affairs Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive program of marketing and communications initiatives, strategies, and communications support for the Student Affairs Division. This multifaceted position entails developing and executing innovative marketing and communications strategies, including social media management, enhancing brand exposure and awareness, and leading external engagement with campus guests and community stakeholders to elevate Student Affairs.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute a marketing and communication strategy for campus events sponsored by Student Affairs departments
  • Supervise a student employee team to assist with photography and videography in an effort to showcase student engagement and foster a sense of belonging on campus
  • Create media content supporting student personal and academic growth
  • Oversee Student Affairs social media accounts with a goal to share campus involvement opportunities and improve user engagement 
  • Oversee all correspondence from Student Affairs departments to students/parents; specifically, on-campus housing information and incoming student event information to ensure consistent communication
  • Maintain Student Affairs department websites 
  • Produces annual report to demonstrate Student Affairs Marketing and Communications initiatives and outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with key campus units (Communications/Creative Service, Enrollment Management, Athletics, Alumni/Advancement, Academic Affairs)
  • Identifies specific communications needs and develops the content and process for organizational improvements
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in marketing, communications, and event management
  • Other duties as assigned 


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications
Skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans, solid written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, understanding of higher education and student affairs practices and initiatives, organizational management and fiscal management, supervision of part-time and volunteer staff, high ethical standards.


General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Periodic evening and weekend hours may be necessary to successfully fulfill job responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree
Two (2) years of experience in event planning, marketing, public relations or related area


Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Public Relations, or related field
