Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Assistant for the department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, provide assistance in studies of ribosomal biology in health and disease.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Recombinantly express and purify proteins using bacterial and insect cell systems.
• Perform molecular cloning to generate mutants of interest.
• Perform bulk biochemical and enzymatic assays.
• Perform basic single-molecule biophysical assays on force-producing enzymes.
• Maintain clear and comprehensive laboratory records.
• Perform statistical analyses of research data.
• Analyze and process experimental data for publication and grant application.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in undergraduate/graduate studies at Rutgers University, with experience in the life science or engineering field.

Equipment Utilized:

• Equipment specific to a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology laboratory.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing.  No special vision requirements. 
• Work Environment: Lab environment with moderate noise.  Radioactivity and hazardous chemicals are used in the lab 

Salary: $15.13/hour
