Job Summary
 

The Student Assistant will support the Junior Achievement Discovery Center on the Armstrong Campus beginning Spring 2024. 

The Dulany Waters Leadership Scholar will play an essential role facilitating and coaching groups of 5-10 middle school students during sessions of the capstone simulation on the Armstrong Campus for the Junior Achievement (JA) Discovery Center. The Leadership Scholar will be trained on JA BizTown and JA Finance Park simulations and will build great experience in teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.


Responsibilities
 
  • Coaches and engages with middle school students
  • Leads and facilitates the discussions of valuable life lessons
  • Successfully navigates the middle school students through the simulations each day
  • Provides high customer service to all JA Discovery Center visitors, such as volunteers, teachers, middle school students, etc.

Shift Specifics

  • 15 - 20 hours per week
  • Shifts scheduled Monday - Friday,  9:45 AM - 2:45 PM
  • Times are not flexible since the need for support is when the middle school students are onsite inside the simulations

JA will work with each student's schedule to determine the best fit days in the week

Each Dulany Waters Leadership Scholar will commit to supporting 1-3 days per week for a full semester, between January 2024 - May 2024


Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Current classification as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate student, or as a non-traditional underclassman of all backgrounds is preferred 
  • Current Freshmen are also considered
  • Previous work experience with middle school students

 

 


Proposed Salary
 

$12.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
