Position Summary
The Student Assistant for the Office of Student Affairs at the Rosenberg
School of Optometry will assist the staff with daily and long-term projects.
The work location for this position is at the Rosenberg School of Optometry at 9725 Datapoint Dr, San Antonio, TX 78229.
This is a student position open to current UIW students.
Essential Functions
  • Answer phones, greet guests, and students visiting the office
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Assist with event preparations
  • Assist with inventory of supplies and merchandise for recruitment and events
  • Perform general clerical duties such as filing, copying, scanning, and calling vendors
  • Assist with data entry, creating spreadsheets, making flyers and PowerPoint slides
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Dependable
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. 
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
  • Must be a current UIW student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher
Required Work Experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in office support or customer service
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Work Hours
  • General availability during normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. 
  • Work schedule to be determined based on need in the office and student schedules.
  • Some evenings and weekends for events may be required.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to reach, squat, stoop, and lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
