Job Summary
The Office of Tax and Revenue is seeking applicants for a Student Account Specialist role. This position reports to the Assistant Bursar and primarily involves advising students on financial transactions related to their student accounts. Key responsibilities include:
  • Setting up institutional payment cohorts via third-party billing agreements.
  • Ensuring timely receipt of payments post-billing.
  • Coordinating with various student support services and departments, including advisement, registrar, housing, graduate studies, and financial aid.
  • Cultivating effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Advising students on financial holds impacting registration, grade reports, and transcripts, including past due balances and collection accounts.
  • Participating in the development and revision of web pages and publications related to financial matters.
  • Assisting with orientations alongside other staff in the Bursar’s Office and Student Affairs
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of university admissions, registration, fee payment, and student accounts.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and programs including Microsoft Office/Windows and internet browsers. 
  • Knowledge of university financial procedures, Title IV, FERPA, and financial data security policies. 
  • Knowledge of other university policies, procedures, structures, and services offered. 
  • Knowledge of Banner student, finance, financial aid, and accounts receivable modules. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with groups or individuals. 
  • Ability to counsel students and parents regarding financial matters. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff. 
  • Ability to solve problems. 
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies fairly and consistently. 
  • Ability to perform complex calculations. 
  • Ability to perform research. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or business-related field or higher 

or 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
