ABOUT THE JOB

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist analyzes business requirements and develops and executes sourcing strategies and initiatives. This role aids management with sourcing and supply chain activities including budget analysis, handles supplier selection and relationship management, negotiates contracts and pricing, and ensures compliance with the contracting and procurement standards.

SALARY RANGE  $49,878 - $72,259

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review, negotiate and process strategic sourcing agreements and requisitions for commodity areas as assigned in accordance with governing regulations and MU Health Care policy. Coordinate with Legal on review of contracts and variances outside standard contractual language.
  • Develop and compose bid specifications in such a manner that meets the end user's needs. Evaluate and analyze bids and proposals to determine the most responsive and responsible bidder to optimize the total cost of ownership. Negotiate and award bids and proposals in accordance with MU Health Care policy and to obtain maximum benefit to end users.
  • Lead and manage MU Health Care Value Analysis teams and their projects, including the identification and implementation of initiatives.
  • Review and analyze data to identify strategic contracts to put in place that bring value to MU Health Care; meet with departments regarding contract compliance, issues, and opportunities.
  • Review and identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, utilization, other expense reduction or avoidance opportunities, improving customer satisfaction, and the total value proposition of the Supply Chain.
  • Consult with directors, managers, and other staff on the preparation and implementation of policies and programs as assigned. Assist with the analysis and preparation of related applications and budgets. Serve on Hospital-wide or Campus-wide committees as needed.
  • Interpret related rules, regulations, codes, and policies. Implement or assist with the implementation of programs to ensure compliance. Work within guidelines and policies, noting improvements and efficiencies to supervisor/manager.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in business, materials management, logistics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.

One (1) year of experience in professional sourcing or purchasing activities, or relevant healthcare experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification by a recognized professional purchasing organization including: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Associate in Contract Management (CACM), Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM), or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP).

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
