Posting Summary
On behalf of the University of Vermont, Professional and Continuing Education (PACE), identify and build strong long-term relationships with employer partners. Assess the learning needs of individuals and teams within employers. Identify appropriate learning and performance improvement solutions that address those needs. Execute custom contracts to enable partner participation in existing programs that address their needs. Communicate to the PACE team specific criteria for the development of new learning solutions that align with employer needs. Coordinate efforts with other units within UVM to collaboratively expand partnerships and maximize the value of external relationships.
Establish and grow PACE partnerships with employers seeking to strengthen their organizations by supporting their employees through professional development. Identify workforce needs and evaluate training and development opportunities through a thorough employer needs assessment. Lead the experiential (programs and events) and volunteer modes of engagement. This includes operational leadership, priority setting, and guiding the team in coordination with our strategic plan and operating plans designed to support UVM PACE and the University at large. Cultivate a mutually beneficial partnership with the prospective external partner.
· Develop and execute partnerships with organizations seeking employee education, training, or assessment. Coordinate and communicate effectively with the UVM Office of Engagement, Career Center, Office of the Vice President for Research, Foundation and Alumni Association, Extension, and other key internal stakeholders. Connect employers to UVM graduates as prospective employees, and match businesses with the University’s research enterprise that includes our faculty, technologies, and research equipment and facilities. Identify prospects for philanthropic support of the university.
· Work closely with PACE marketing and program development teams to develop and deliver a strategy that will enhance brand and grow portfolio offerings. Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve defined sales targets. Advise customer service team regarding lead generation, inquiry management, and sales to drive enrollments with relevant and timely data.
· Prospect, network and build strong long-term relationships with customers, alumni, students, and employers. Track inquiry to enrollment process to gauge sales and outreach effectiveness. Assist with creation and analysis of sales and outreach progression charts and dashboards.
· Develop and inform sales budgets. Create and distribute regular sales reports. Create primary market research on target industries, trends, and customers to inform program development. Conduct and analyze competitive research on other education providers to inform program development, sales, and marketing tactics.
· Serve as a member of PACE operational teams and represent PACE at external and internal meetings. Work closely with university leaders to coordinate alumni engagement in the strategic plan, and other high-profile initiatives. In doing this, the role lives UVM values, can articulate UVM’s strategic priorities and goals, uses data-driven decision making, and values innovation.
General supervision received from PACE Director of Strategic Partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Master’s degree in Business or related field with four years experience in a successful B2B sales and relationship building position required.
· Proven track record in business-to-business networking and development.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overnight and weekend travel.
· Highly-developed customer service and relationship building skills.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability in managing and influencing internal and external stakeholders.
· Experience in planning, organizing and implementing sales outreach initiatives.
· Experience selling management education and skills development for professionals.
· Experience in sales converting interest into contracts, MOUs and enrollments.
· Experience with market and competitor research and assorted research methodologies.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within both academic and business settings.
· Well-developed research, presentation and negotiation skills.
· Ability to prioritize multiple projects, deadlines, and work within budget constraints.
· Analysis and budgeting skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team.
· Knowledge of current best practices of electronic outreach tools and approaches – web practices, social media, outreach, engagement and general computer software skills.
