Department Description

One of three positions responsible for coordinating graduate groups/programs housed within the School of Veterinary Medicine.

The position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.



Job Summary

As a member of the Graduate Group Complex within the Veterinary Medicine Dean’s Office of Research and Graduate Education, and under general supervision, independently manage student services for the Graduate Group in Epidemiology (GGE) and the Masters of Preventative Veterinary Medicine (GPVM), including administrative and financial management, academic advising, and program development.

Plan, manage and implement all aspects of the recruitment and admissions process, develop graduate education policies and provide academic advising to the faculty, students and staff. Provide in-depth, wide-range and complex academic advising; communicate and develop policies and procedures that ensure compliance with Graduate Studies rules, regulations, and deadlines; independent analysis, interpretation and administration of numerous and intricate regulations, policies, and operations; oversee retention and various operations for enrolled graduate students; provide proactive advisement, monitor progress from matriculation through degree conferral.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

·       Experience to independently initiate necessary actions and coordinate many activities concurrently.

·       Experience with event planning.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Knowledge within the discipline of advising, retention, and program development, including the academic needs and concerns of students in a higher educational setting.

·       Analytical skills to interpret policies and procedures pertaining to graduate programs, graduate recruitment, financial aid, block grant administration, and graduate admissions.

·       Leadership skills to advocate for and guide graduate programs towards their stated mission.

·       Interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills to effectively interact and communicate with diverse individuals on and off campus at all levels.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

·       Experience with the Student Information System (Banner preferred), SLATE, GradHub, and GradTrack$ and knowledge of policy and procedures (university setting preferred) relating to student records.

·       Experience with course scheduling.

·       Experience with confidential student records and other sensitive materials or information.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Knowledge of University and Department policies, procedures, and regulations as they relate to graduate student education.

·       Knowledge and ability to interpret eligibility guidelines pertaining to scholarships and fellowships.
