Job Summary

Under direction of the Sr. Director of Student & Academic Services, provide leadership and support for the Master of Management (MM) online and on-prem programs, including events and activities and programming. Provide advice and guidance to diverse students, faculty, staff, alumni, applicants, company representatives and the general public regarding MM policies & procedures, deadlines, and events. Act as a primary source of information and communication for MM prospects and current students. Represent GSM Administration during MM program hours. This position is based in Davis.

This is a One-year contract with the possibility of extension or becoming career.

 

RECRUITMENT PERIOD ONE MONTH: Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the removal date.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Fixed work hours: Monday – Friday, typically 8am-5pm with some room for negotiation and determined by operational needs to ensure coverage and student support. Work occasional overtime, including some weekends and evenings, sometimes on short notice to meet operational needs.
  • Due to essential responsibilities, this position requires onsite support and coverage. However, after an initial review period, this position may be eligible for remote support one day per week.
  • Infrequent travel for special meetings or events and backup support to other campus locations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum License/Certification: 

  • A valid California driver’s license

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Counseling or other related area.
  • 2-3 years+ experience with handling difficult, sensitive and/or confidential issues with student groups, persons of varying ages and ethnic backgrounds, special interest groups/organizations, employers and company representatives, alumni, campus staff, faculty, the public and others.
  • Experience establishing goals and workload priorities, handling multiple tasks and complex projects simultaneously with conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines, and flexibility in dealing with people and competing demands.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact with students, alumni, employers, staff, faculty and general public. Effectively represent the GSM and always maintain a professional manner.
  • Strong track record of strong decision making, working well independently and well as collaboratively.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:             

  • Event Management experience and skills to deliver high-quality events

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Extensive customer service experience. Knowledge and experience of UC Davis and campus resources
  • Knowledge of graduate student policies and procedures, academic and career advising, orientation, registration, courses, curriculum, and academic policies.
  • Presentation skills to represent the University before large and small groups conveying information verbally and with technological tools.
  • Broad and specific knowledge of the graduate and professional student experiences, and related guidelines, such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.
