Job Summary

The Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health invites applications for a Statistician in the Urban Health Collaborative. The position requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who will conduct statistical analyses, programming, data management, and data documentation activities for urban health-focused projects, with an emphasis on the effects of climate change on health. This position will act as the statistical analyst for multiple projects and be responsible for developing and implementing statistical analysis plans and drafting methods and results sections for manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. This position will also assist with programming and data management, as needed.

The position is based at the Urban Health Collaborative (UHC) at the Dornsife School of Public Health. The Statistician will work closely with Principal Investigator (Dr. Usama Bilal) and Co-Investigators of the Project (Dr. Ana Diez Roux, Dr. Brisa Sanchez, Dr. Josiah Kephart, and Dr. Leah Schinasi), along with external partners involved in these projects.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement statistical analysis plans for manuscripts including small area estimation, multilevel and longitudinal analyses.
  • Drafting methods and results for abstracts and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Produce tables, graphs, plots, and other data summary reports and visualizations.
  • Ensure data quality by performing rigorous data cleaning, error checking, and validation.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for data cleaning, linkage, storage, and analyses of study data.
  • Assist and supervise students, postdoctoral fellows, and other trainees with various data and analytic aspects.
  • Assist in acquisition of data from government agencies and other sources, including data cleaning and checking data quality, as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in statistics, biostatistics, or related quantitative field and 5-7 years of experience managing and analyzing data for complex multisite research.
  • Advanced programming skills in R.
  • Experience using version control software (e.g., Git and GitHub)
  • Experience with complex analyses including longitudinal, multilevel, and Bayesian methods.
  • Experience drafting methods and results sections for manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Very detail oriented, extremely organized, and comfortable with multitasking
  • Possess excellent oral, written, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced data compilation and data management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Team-oriented and experienced working with diverse groups of investigators, trainees, and students
  • Working knowledge or ability to quickly learn other statistical programs, as needed.
  • Experience with spatial analyses is highly desirable.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade M. Compensation for this grade ranges from a minimum of $75,200.00 to a maximum of $112,790.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
