Description:

The staff writer, under the direction of the Director of University Communications, performs a wide range of highly specialized and/or complex public communications and/or marketing related work. The writer will develop, write, edit and proofread a variety of informational materials (i.e., press releases, web stories, feature stories, advertisements, special communications publications, programs, e-newsletters and social media posts) through a variety of communication channels.
The writer will interpret and disseminate technical or program specific information through a variety of media to stimulate interest in programs, events and activities. The ideal candidate must possess a passion to tell compelling stories about diverse topics for lay audiences, an ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and the ability to create content across multiple platforms.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Office of University Relations is administered under the Office of the Chancellor of North Carolina A&T State University. University Relations is the central communications office for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University that is responsible for marketing, branding, crisis communications, media relations and other major elements of identification and communications for the university. The office works with colleges/schools and units across the university to promote news, information and events that align with the institution's strategic priorities and brand positioning. North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is America's largest historically Black university and a leading doctoral research institution, focused on exemplary undergraduate and graduate instruction, outstanding interdisciplinary research and community service and engagement.
