Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.
The Arthur Riggs Diabetes & Metabolism Research Institute (AR-DMRI) promotes new discoveries and innovation across pathophysiology, diabetes-related complications, and treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. The long-term goal of our lab is to delineate the molecular mechanisms linking β-cell signaling to autoimmune attack in T1D. This project is focused on to determine the role of ISR signaling, dysregulated RNA transcription and translation, and neoantigen production in the β-cell during the early phases of T1D development. To achieve this goal, we have developed several molecular biology tools and high-throughput multi-omics approaches.
As a successful candidate you will:
· Independently design and carry out experiments, train graduate students and post-docs, lab management, manuscript writing, and helping the PI with grant writing, presenting data in lab meetings and national and international conferences, cordinating with collaborators and data interpretation and analysis.
· Perform necessary lab skills within cell and molecular biology to include flow cytometry, handling of laboratory animals, multi-omics, invitro transcription and translation, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, extracellular vesicles and AAV-based gene therapy, ELISPOT, CRISPR and data analysis
· The Staff Scientist must possess, at a minimum, the U.S. equivalent Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline, and will often have a Ph.D. or other doctoral level degree.
· PhD or MD with above 5 years of experience preferred
· Experience with T and B cells biology, immunotherapy, cell and molecular biology, gene and cell therapy as well as scientific writing are required
