Research in the Oldham lab (https://oldhamlab.ucsf.edu ) focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular organization of the developing and adult human brain in health and disease.  We use a combination of cutting-edge experimental techniques and computational approaches to identify and characterize patterns of gene activity in disparate cell types, and to relate these patterns to functional and pathological processes, with a particular emphasis on adult malignant gliomas.  We are also highly involved in software development.

Secondary responsibilities include ordering equipment and supplies to provision and maintain the laboratory for efficient day-to-day operation, providing support for the preparation of research approvals to ensure institutional compliance, organizing and maintaining chemical and lab equipment inventories, preparing reagents and buffers, maintaining lab equipment, ensuring compliance with written protocols and common laboratory space safety procedures.  Numerous opportunities will exist to engage in collaborations within and beyond UCSF, provide mentorship to trainees, present work, and participate in publications.
