Job Summary
The lab is focused on identifying genes and genetic mechanisms involved in neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. At the moment the lab is working on Tourette syndrome (TS), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Our lab is hiring a Staff Research Associate that will aid scientist(s) on new and ongoing research projects by performing basic molecular biological techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA isolation and purification, and cell culture in the laboratory. Additionally, the position would aid with bioinformatics and statistical analyses, and computational needs.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Required Qualifications
SRA I:
- BA/BS degree in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven record of excelling in a team-oriented environment.
- Proven ability to work within a team to accomplish specific goals at specified times.
- Demonstrated the skills needed to carry out a project to completion and report any problems that occurred both orally and in written form.
- Familiar with common laboratory techniques and molecular biology principles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for record keeping.
- Strong use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrates excellent attendance and professionalism.
- A preliminary job offer and assignment may be extended pending successful background clearance.
SRA II:
- In addition to the above, BA/BS in a related science and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with model organisms.
- Hands on experience with cell culture of iPSCs and HEK293 cells.
- Hands on experience with PCR, qPCR.
- Hands on experience with molecular cloning.
- Hands on experience with model organisms.
