Job Summary

The lab is focused on identifying genes and genetic mechanisms involved in neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. At the moment the lab is working on Tourette syndrome (TS), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Our lab is hiring a Staff Research Associate that will aid scientist(s) on new and ongoing research projects by performing basic molecular biological techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA isolation and purification, and cell culture in the laboratory. Additionally, the position would aid with bioinformatics and statistical analyses, and computational needs.

Required Qualifications

SRA I:

  • BA/BS degree in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven record of excelling in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to work within a team to accomplish specific goals at specified times. 
  • Demonstrated the skills needed to carry out a project to completion and report any problems that occurred both orally and in written form.
  • Familiar with common laboratory techniques and molecular biology principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for record keeping.
  • Strong use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent attendance and professionalism.
  • A preliminary job offer and assignment may be extended pending successful background clearance.

SRA II:
  • In addition to the above, BA/BS in a related science and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with model organisms.
  • Hands on experience with cell culture of iPSCs and HEK293 cells.
  • Hands on experience with PCR, qPCR.
  • Hands on experience with molecular cloning.
  • Hands on experience with model organisms.
