Description:

Position Summary Staff Nurse II is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Staff Nurse II provides direct patient care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Staff Nurse II functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals. Staff Nurse II facilitates educational development of staff, leads unit-based quality improvement initiatives and acts as a professional and clinical role model and educational resource for staff. Staff Nurse II is actively engaged in Shared Leadership through membership on a governing council. Duties & Responsibilities • Clinical •  Demonstrates in-depth clinical knowledge, skills and expertise. •  Provides direct patient care. •  Performs ongoing assessment of assigned patients’ and their significant others’ learning needs and identifies • changes in patients’ condition. •  Assimilates information from multiple sources and implements appropriate action plan to provide safe, quality • care. •  Assures safety and security of patients, significant others and staff. •  Ensures the appropriate implementation of the patient’s plans of care and facilitates communication among • multidisciplinary team members regarding patient status. •  Implements appropriate actions to respond to needs of patients and patients’ significant others. •  Monitors and documents the patient’s condition during and post Endoscopy procedures. •  Assures cost effective approach to patient care in terms of equipment, supplies and other resources. •  In all areas of practice follows established policies, procedures and standards of care. •  Participates in quality improvement activities and identifies quality issues. •  Recognizes and responds to age appropriate needs and behaviors of all patients and utilizes knowledge in • Job Description • Disclaimer • This job description reflects the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
  • One year of RN experience.
  • Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers.
  • Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
  • Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.
  • 5 years’ experience with GI procedures required
  • BSN required
