The Department of Student Health & Counseling promotes students’ optimal health, well-being, and development through the provision of high-quality, integrated, and holistic health services. Staffed by caring professionals, Health & Counseling offers primary health care, psychological counseling, sexual health services, and health promotion services to SUNY Geneseo students, as well as consultation, prevention, and training programs to the Geneseo community. We strive to advance the missions of the College and Division of Student and Campus Life through empowering students to be active partners in their health care, providing education and resources to foster healthy decision making and supporting students in the pursuit of their academic goals.
 
As a Staff Counselor you will provide counseling services to the SUNY Geneseo students, perform assessments, crisis intervention, facilitate group counseling sessions, individual counseling services, and serve as a mental health consultant to the SUNY Geneseo community. You will collaborate with student groups and make a concerted effort to offer counseling services to diverse backgrounds. In addition, you’ll serve as a key clinical resource for the Student Support Services (SSS) and McNair Scholars programs by providing informal and formal skills training to SSS participants, building relationships with students within the SSS Success Program, identifying risk factors of retention and persistence to graduation for clients and referring appropriately, and collaborating with the SSS team and program/campus services to achieve SSS Success Program objectives.

• Master’s degree
• NYS license or license eligible (Psychologist, LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, LMSW, LCAT, LMFT)
• Demonstrated desire to work with and be inclusive toward diverse students, faculty, and staff
