Job Summary

Staff Associate I will work at the Sergievsky Center in the study of memory, aging, and Alzheimer's disease. They will work with peers of similar responsibility such as interviewer, research assistances, and other staff associates; as well as assist their project coordinator in different aspects of the study, including outreach and/or educational events for WHICAP and its ancillary studies.

Responsibilities

Staff Associate I assist and administers medical questionnaires, obtaining anthropometric measures to older adults that are participants in a study of aging and nervous systems disorders. They interview study participants at home, CUIMC (Columbia University Irving Medical Center), and remotely through telephone using standardized methods. Assists in collection, labeling, recording, and transporting biological specimens, blood, and saliva. Has working knowledge and experience in obtaining blood samples via venipuncture. Can administer questionnaires and cognitive measures standard across all participants. Can assess when emergent situations must be followed up with my supervisor while on the field. Works within the standardized frame and knows when to probe interview questions further as needed. Has dexterity in drawing blood samples via venipuncture. Can communicate empathically with vulnerable populations during interview sessions as data is always collected and they are to report to their project coordinator of interview findings.

They are responsible for data entry review for their data collection. Staff Associate I is responsible for ensuring data quality for database entry interfaces.

Functional Knowledge
