Position Summary
The EXCEL Inclusive Student Life Coordinator (ISL Coordinator) works with the Excel Director to be a contact between all parties involved with the EXCEL Resident and Commuter Life programs’ implementation: EXCEL students, Residence Life staff, EXCEL staff, and partnering high school districts’ staff. The ISL coordinator will work directly with students, Residence Life Peer Mentors, Residence Life staff, and EXCEL staff. The ISL Coordinator oversees the on-going implementation of the EXCEL Residence Life program and Commuter Life program, ensuring EXCEL students have a successful transition to living and belonging on campus as campus residents or commuters.

This position is grant funded meaning the terms of this appointment are based on appropriate funding from the grant.
This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA. This position is eligible for hybrid / remote work in accordance with BSU remote work policy.
This is an exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

Essential Duties
  • Collaborate with Assistant Director for Residential Learning Communities and Assessment to develop, implement, and coordinate all aspects of EXCEL Residence Life program (trainings, monitoring health and safety of EXCEL students, monitoring EXCEL student involvement in residence life, etc.)
  • Recruit, interview, and hire Residence Life Peer Mentors working with EXCEL Residence Life students and EXCEL Commuter Life students.
  • Recruit the EXCEL Resident Assistants, who will serve the primary support personnel for EXCEL Residence students between the hours of 8:00pm-8:00am.
  • Coordinate bi-weekly meetings with Residence Life Peer Mentors and EXCEL Resident Assistant, providing supervision to support staff.
  • Coordinate bi-weekly meetings with Education Coaches and Students to work academic and social skill goals.
  • Support and Supervise Graduate Assistant assigned to Inclusive Student Life.
  • Support Residence Hall Director by attending staff meetings with EXCEL Resident Assistant.
  • Coordinate and support EXCEL Day and Residence Life Peer Mentoring programs; work with office manager and the Director of the EXCEL Program in submitting online job descriptions, reviewing the applicant pool, and interviewing potential Peer Mentors.
  • Coordinate and support day and evening peer leader job responsibilities and daily activities.
  • Support partnering high school district staff, EXCEL student’s families and BSU EXCEL Residence Life staff; ensuring EXCEL student involvement is successful
  • Support EXCEL staff in person-centered-planning for students.

  • Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Sensitivity to student needs, concerns, and individual issues, as well as flexibility, patience and high professional integrity
    • Commitment to customer service excellence/support to enhance an environment of equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to work directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • Experience in the program planning/development and the coordination of program support of a diverse range of events.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, organization skills and attention to detail are required, as is flexibility and a sense of humor
    • Experience training, developing, and mentoring a diverse group of co-workers or employees.
    • Thrives while working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

    Salary Range $50,000 - $55,000
