Duke University’s Department of Dermatology has an immediate opening for a Staff Assistant working in the Department Chair’s office.  

Occupational Summary

Perform responsible administrative and clerical duties of a complex and confidential nature in support of major departmental divisional activities to relieve supervisor of varied clerical and administrative responsibilities and to maintain efficiency in organizational operations.

Work Performed

- Provide backup administrative support for Department Chair administrative assistant.

- Assist with calendaring, preparing presentations, collecting and assembling data from multiple sources.

- Assist new faculty recruits with formatting their resumes, scheduling orientation, communicating onboarding process

- Provide administrative support for Vice Chairs, managing expenses and expense reporting, facilitating travel arrangements.

- Provide administrative support for meetings, schedule and managing zoom or in person meetings, preparing materials, generating reports from data to be presented at meetings.

- Participate in management and execution of departmental events, including holiday events, weekly research events, and annual research events

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work requires a broad knowledge of clerical and accounting principles and practices normally acquired through two years of post-secondary education in administrative support or a related business field.


Experience

Work generally requires four years of related secretarial/clerical OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE experience to acquire skills necessary to administer complex office functions related to office management, communications, and budgetary/accounting activities.
